Detroit's airport is the best large airport in the nation, according to a new survey from JD Power and Associates, and Indianapolis has the best small airport.
The survey was based on responses from more than 12,000 passengers who flew round-trip flights last year. Airports were judged on six criteria, including accessibility, check-in and baggage-check areas, and food and retail options.
Indianapolis — which opened in November 2008 — received the highest absolute score. Kansas City was ranked best medium-sized airport.
The survey also found that passengers spend more money at airports with high scores than at those with lower rankings.
