President Obama nominated a former Small Business Administration official to be the next administrator for federal procurement policy at the Office of Management and Budget.
If confirmed by the Senate, Joseph Jordan would replace Dan Gordon, who became associate dean for government contracts law at the George Washington University Law School last month.
Jordan was SBA's associate administrator of government contracting and business development from March 2009 until late last year, when he moved to OMB as a senior adviser to Deputy Director Jeff Zients.
"Joe has a keen understanding of the terrain," Zients said in announcing Jordan's nomination on his official blog late Friday. Lesley Field, deputy administrator at the Office of Federal Procurement Policy, is meanwhile serving as acting administrator.
Before joining the government, Jordan had been an engagement manager at consultant McKinsey & Co., where he specialized in development of purchasing and supply management strategies for clients.
