The Census Bureau said Friday that 206 headquarters employees have so far applied for $25,000 buyouts and early retirements.
Those employees must retire by April 3, the Census Bureau said in an email. The agency plans to allow up to 400 employees to take buyouts and early retirements.
Census offered the buyouts and early retirements to employees on Feb. 24.
Senior executives are not eligible for buyouts and early outs. Those eligible are employees in 18 occupations, including information technology, program management, human resources, accounting, budget analysis, contracting and training instruction.
