A senior General Services Administration called for reforms in the way the government invests in new computer systems.

Lena Trudeau, associate commissioner of GSA’s Office of Strategic Innovations, said agencies must collaborate more with other agencies and industry partners, encourage more openness, and encourage peer review of computer code.

“We do not have an 18 month or a two-year cycle to produce software based on requirements that we gather and develop in silos and that we pull together toward the end,” she said during a speech at the Executive Leadership Conference in Williamsburg, Va., Monday.
