The General Services Administration helped agencies save $2.5 billion in fiscal 2013 through special purchasing programs for office supplies, IT equipment and other items, according to the agency.
The savings include $650 million through using strategic sourcing and other contract vehicles, according to GSA. Agencies also saved $77 million by disposing of unneeded properties and $288 million by purchasing and leasing vehicles through GSA.
Agencies were also able to save hundreds of millions on new software by using GSA’s SmartBuy program, according to the agency.
“These are just a few of the many ways GSA is providing value to our clients and to the public, and we have our sights set on even greater goals for 2014,” social media manager Ori Hoffer said in a blog post Jan. 16.
