The president of a federal union is calling on President Obama to extend his pledge to raise the minimum contractor wage to all hourly federal employees.

William Dougan, the president of the National Federation of Federal Employees, said President Obama’s pledge to sign an executive order to raise the federal contractor minimum wage to $10.10 is a good step but he must do more to boost the wages of hourly federal employees.

“We believe that raising the minimum wage for federal hourly employees is the low-hanging fruit, and the president can demonstrate his dedication to raising the minimum wage by doing so,” Dougan said in a statement.
