Rafael Borras is resigning his post as the Department of Homeland Security’s undersceretary for management.

Borras’s final day will be Friday, Feb. 7, Federal News Radio reported in an account confirmed Monday by a congressional staffer. DHS spokeswoman Marsha Catron had no comment Monday; Borras did not reply to an email seeking information on his plans.

Borras has been in the job since April 2010; for several months late last year, he filled in as acting deputy secretary before Alejandro Mayorkas won Senate confirmation in December. In his regular management role, Borras oversees tens of billions of dollars in DHS spending and also serves as the department’s chief acquisition officer.

When President Obama tapped him for the post in 2009, Borras was vice president for construction services with URS Corp., a Washington-based engineering firm. Before then, he had been a regional administrator at the General Services Administration and a deputy assistant secretary for administration with the Commerce Department.
