A General Services Administration official who lost his job in the aftermath of the Western Regions Conference in 2010 has been reinstated.

The Merit System Protection Board also awarded former Region 7 Administrator James Weller 19 months of back pay.

The lavish conference, detailed in a 2012 Inspector General report, led then-Administrator Martha Johnson to resign. Several other officials also lost their jobs. However, MSPB Administrative Judge Ronald Weiss found that GSA had not made its case against Weller.

Weller had been accused of abusing his office during the planning of the conference. However, Weiss found that Weller had had almost no involvement in the planning.
