More than 2.3 million people have downloaded the latest version of IRS2Go, or updated an older version, according to the Internal Revenue Service. IRS2Go 4.0 is the latest iteration of the taxpayers’ assistance app, which the IRS introduced in 2011.

Since the release of that first version, the app has been downloaded more than 5.5 million times, for Apple and Android devices.

“IRS2Go’s updated features make it easier than ever for people to check on their refunds and get important tax information,” said IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. “The surge in downloads reflects our interest in providing our nation’s taxpayers with these types of tools to provide helpful, up-to-date tax return information.”

The app allows mobile users access to the “Where’s My Refund” page on the IRS website. There they can quickly get updated on the status of an expected refund.
