Report: CBP broke hiring laws for Obama campaigners

Hiring officials at Customs and Border Protection broke civil service laws when hiring three unqualified political appointees favored by the agency commissioner, according to a report in the Washington Post.

The Office of Special Counsel filed two complaints April 8 alleging that human resource employees picked applicants from President Obama’s 2008 campaign and circumvented fair competition laws.

The employees then allegedly tailored job descriptions to fit their qualifications in order to get them hired, according to the Washington Post.
