The Office of Personnel Management is hoping to boost agency participation in its Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS), according to director Katherine Archuleta.
Last year agency responses varied from 90 percent participation to 27 percent — and averaged about 48 percent government wide, Archuleta wrote in an April 11 memo to agency heads.
“With your help communicating the importance of this survey effort, we are sure to see these numbers increase,” she said.
The 2014 survey will also offer agencies greater analytical capacity through the use of a visual, interactive dashboard, Archuleta wrote. Agencies should also use the results to help combat morale issues brought on by last year’s government shutdown, sequestration and furloughs.
“In my visits with you, I know you are keenly aware of workforce morale and intend on using the results of the FEVS to improve the work experiences of all your employees,” she wrote.
The survey will be distributed from late April to June, and some results will be available as early as August with full results available later in the year, she wrote.
“There is hard work ahead, and positive change takes focused attention and sustained effort. The FEVS is a way for us to hear from our people and to respond to their feedback with genuine care and leadership,” Archuleta wrote.
