The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau received an award for the plain language of its documents from the Center for Plain Language April 22.
The Grand ClearMark Award was given to the CFPB for its work on shortening and simplifying complicated home loan documents into more easily understood formats.
"When a government agency such as CPFB, turns two long, head-scratching forms into one that’s shorter, clearer and easier to use, the Center for Plain Language rejoices," said Annetta L. Cheek, chair of the board of directors for the Center for Plain Language. "The testing that went into this redesign – both before and after -- is impressive, and shows in the results."
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration was recognized for having the most complex and confusing document – a consent decree that provides information to trucking and bus companies to improve safety.
