Mobile devices are the best way for agencies to reach younger audiences, according to Treci Johnson, a recruitment, marketing and outreach specialist for AmeriCorps VISTA, a program within the Corporation for National and Community Service.
More than 65 percent of the “millennial generation” access internet from their phone and open about 99 percent of the messages they receive on those devices, Johnson wrote in an April 29 blog post.
“This generation of tech-natives is adept at accessing large amounts of information held in the palms of their hands,” Johnson wrote.
The more agencies can create relevant, personalized mobile content the better agencies can connect with younger customers, she wrote. Agencies should use apps and app alerts to send notifications directly to the people they want to reach, she added.
“The more agencies can create relevant, personalized content, the less we may find ourselves competing with other digital noise,” Johnson wrote.
