The amount of money federal employees can spend while traveling will not go up in 2015, but it also won’t go down, according to the General Services Administration.

The standard lodging rate per diem will remain at $83 and meals and incidental expenses will still range from $46 to 71 in fiscal 2015, according to an Aug. 15 federal register notice. Per diem rates vary across many cities and localities; 400 non-standard areas have higher per diem rates.

Per diem rates to rise for 2014

Over the last year a governmentwide travel advisory committee has been reviewing GSA travel policies and has found the per diem calculation methodology to be sound, Christine Harada, associate administrator for Government-wide policy, said in a blog post.

She said the committee will present its recommendations for what to change about GSA travel policy by the end of calendar year 2014.

Last year GSA raised per diems about 1.4 percent after having frozen them in 2013.
