GSA, Air Force team up to identify cost-effective contracts

The General Services Administration and the Air Force will form a working group to identify enterprise-wide contracts that will save the Air Force money, according to an Aug. 18 announcement.

GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service and the Air Force’s Sustainment Center signed a memorandum of understanding to see which GSA contracts the Air Force can use in its mission.

Some of those include the recently announced OASIS contract—a multi-billion dollar professional services contract—and GSA’s strategic sourcing initiatives and reverse auction tools.

“The MOU is just the latest example of GSA’s commitment to delivering cost-effective customer service,” Tina Jaegerman, GSA spokeswoman for its greater southwest region, said in a blog post.

Other examples of possible GSA enterprise-wide contracts includes its multiple award schedule, its fourth party logistics program and its global supply special order program, according to Jaegerman.

This is not the first time the Air Force and GSA have announced partnerships. The Air Force signed an agreement with GSA in December to use the contract for professional services. GSA awarded its small-business portion to 123 businesses in a separate section of the contract.
