The former acting director of cyber security at the Health and Human Services Department was convicted by a jury in Nebraska Aug. 26 of possessing, and conspiring to advertise and distribute child pornography, according to the FBI.
Timothy DeFoggi is the sixth person to be convicted as part of a 2012 crackdown on child pornography websites by the FBI. He will be sentenced Nov. 7.
DeFoggi began working at HHS in 2008 as an IT specialist and eventually was promoted to be the lead at the Office fo the Assistant Secretary for Administration at the agency.
He was originally arrested and charged in May, 2013, according to the FBI.
