The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health is seeking to recruit an entrepreneur-in-residence as part of a project to determine how best to collect, manage, share and use work information in electronic health records.

As part of NIOSH's mission to "develop new knowledge in the field of occupational safety and health and to transfer that knowledge into practice," the entrepreneur-in-residence will work to design and plan the architecture of incorporating work data into health information systems to improve worker health.

Overseen by the Department of Health and Human Services IDEA Lab (a.k.a. the Office of the Chief Technology Officer), the entrepreneurs-in-residence program enlists participants to work for 13 months on mission-critical projects to "promote the use of data, technology and innovation across HHS to create a more modern and effective government that works to improve the health of the nation."

The applicant selected for this project will exhibit strong business acumen in health IT; knowledge of systems architecture and interoperability standards; experience with project management of open source and agile software development; experience with technology assessments, business process analyses and roadmap development; as well as the ability to collaborate, communicate and strategize in a diverse, cross-disciplinary, multi-platform environment.
