The Professional Services Council went to Capitol Hill to find a new vice president of technology.

The federal contractor trade association said on June 1 that it had selected Senior Legislative Assistant Kevin Cummins to step into the role vacated by Dave Wennergren last month.

Cummins — who serves on the staff of Sen. Tom Udall's, D-N.M. — is a technology expert and played a strong role in crafting the Federal IT Acquisition Reform Act, or FITARA, which reformed federal technology acquisition.

Wennergren said on May 15 that he would be leaving PSC at the end of June to become a managing director at Deloitte’s federal team, focusing on IT modernization.

Wennergren had been with the association for four years, ascending to the role of chief operating officer following stings in both the public and private sector.

Cummins has a similar background, having worked in the Senate as a legislative assistant for the past eight years, following time as director of public policy and trade at ASTM International

— which crafts technical product standards — and IBM.

PSC also added

Ashlei Stevens as its new director of media relations. Stevens is former press secretary for the United Negro College Fund and served as a former education policy adviser for then-Governor and now Rep. Mark Sanford, R-S.C.

"These two key additions to the PSC staff highlight our continuing commitment to be the leading advocate for the government contracting community," PSC President and CEO David Berteau said in a statement.

"In Kevin Cummins and Ashlei Stevens, we have two outstanding individuals who will provide great value to our over 400 member companies."
