45,000 feds sign up for long-term care benefit

More than 45,000 federal employees, spouses and same-sex domestic partners signed up for the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program during the open season period earlier this year.

Long-term care open season starts today

Active federal employees and their spouses, as well as same-sex domestic partners, are able to enroll in the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program with abbreviated underwriting beginning Monday. (4)

Federal benefits extended to same-sex partners

President Obama signed a memo June 2 extending child care, employee assistance, credit union membership and other benefits to gay and lesbian federal employees' same-sex domestic partners and their children. (1)

Gay, lesbian partners eligible for long-term care coverage

Gay and lesbian federal employees and retirees will be able to add their same-sex domestic partners to their long-term care insurance policies beginning July 1. (2)

New OPM task force to study pay gap

The Obama administration's personnel chief has assigned a task force to come up with "ironclad" data showing that feds do not earn far more than their private-sector counterparts. (4)
