The General Services Administration and Department of Energy jointly announced a request for information, asking industry partners for energy-efficient solutions in federal buildings.

The RFI is part of the GSA's Green Proving Ground initiative and DOE's High Impact Technology Catalyst program, which seek building science offering that are energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable.

The partnership between the two agencies is to help ensure federal buildings will operate more productively, while using less energy and creating a smaller carbon footprint.

The RFI requests technologies in five categories: energy management, window attachments, fans and blowers, renewable energy, and water conservation and reuse.

GSA noted in RFI listing that, unlike in other years, it is seeking technology only in the five categories listed and will not accept submissions that include other building categories.

Submissions should demonstrate energy savings and environmental performance capabilities.

Applications for the RFI are open through Dec. 11.
