The Department of Health and Human Services’ governmentwide shared service provider has brought on a new contractor to offer artificial intelligence as an avenue for information technology modernization.

General Dynamics Information Technology announced May 30 that it had been awarded a multiple-award indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract with the HHS Program Support Center at an estimated value of $49 million.

PSC is hosted by HHS but offers over 40 support services to other customer agencies.

“We are excited to join HHS in their journey to a more efficient future,” said GDIT Vice President and Health Sector Head Kamal Narang in a news release. “GDIT will utilize our expertise in AI, blockchain and other next-generation technologies to help transform HHS’ business processes and enhance their mission delivery.”

The award pre-qualifies GDIT to compete on task orders that use advanced technologies to modernize government systems.

According to the news release, the award also includes other advanced technologies, such as intelligent automation, blockchain, microservices, machine learning, natural language processing and robotic process automation.
