The General Services Administration announced the winners of its next-generation telecom contract, Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS), intended to be the go-to vehicle for agencies — civilian and defense — looking for telecom services.

The new contract — set to replace the aging Networx vehicle — includes basic telecommunication offerings, as well as wireless, VoIP and video calling. The contract has a projected ceiling of $50 billion.

In an Aug. 1 announcement on FedBizOps, GSA listed 10 companies joining the new contract vehicle:

  • AT&T Corp.
  • BT Federal Inc.
  • CenturyLink (Qwest Government Services)
  • Core Technologies
  • Granite Telecommunications
  • Harris Corporation
  • Level 3 Communications
  • MetTel (Manhattan Telecommunications)
  • MicroTech
  • Verizon

The Networx vehicle, which was originally set to expire this past January, was extended through 2020 to give agencies time to transition.

GSA officials expect that transition will be particularly difficult, and have been urging agencies to begin transition planning since the EIS RFP was released in 2015.
