General Dynamics Information Technology will continue supporting the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services under a potential $276.5 million contract, according to a June 21 news release.

“We are excited to continue our work with CMS and provide innovative ways to safeguard the Medicare trust fund for future generations,” said Vice President Kamal Narang, head of General Dynamics Information Technology’s health sector.

Through the contract, GDIT will continue to support CMS’s Benefits Coordination and Recovery Center, which manages benefits and payments for Medicare. The contract has a one-year base period with four one-year options.

GDIT stated they will “continue providing customer support services to Medicare beneficiaries and other stakeholders, as well as mail-room services, digital imaging, debt determination and collection, electronic data interchange (EDI) support and other special projects.”

GDIT has supported CMS’s Coordination of Benefits and Recovery programs since 1991. In 2017 they helped CMS save over $8.5 billion “by properly coordinating benefits prior to payment and recovering funds on a post-payment basis.”

GDIT also won a potential $62 million blanket purchase agreement to provide IT support to a Department of Defense corporate university, according to an award notice posted June 21 on the Federal Business Opportunities website. Defense Acquisitions University, located in Fort Belvoir, Va., offers defense acquisition education and training to over 163,000 military, federal civilian staff and federal contractors.
