The defense agency that prevents the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction is looking to make a move to the cloud.
The Defense Threat Reduction Agency, a 2,000-person-strong Department of Defense component, issued a Feb. 28 request for information for agencywide information technology services, including cloud migration.

"The DTRA requests industry input on concepts and strategies to implement this vision, to include emerging requirements," the FedBizOpps post said.
"The DTRA is seeking infrastructure and mission support that will cross all security domains in a research and development and operational capacity."
The RFI will seek information on a number of IT services, including:
- Engineering
- Operations and maintenance
- Cloud services (migration, management and provisioning)
- Cybersecurity
- Governance
- Knowledge management
- Integration
- Asset management
Vendors are asked to provide a 15-page white paper outlining their strategy for implementing the migration, including any gaps identified within the proposed timeline for adoption by noon on March 10.
The DTRA anticipates holding an industry day in June, followed by a draft request for proposal in November. The agency anticipates it will award the IT contract in August 2018.
