Dale Cabaniss, the Trump administration nominee to take over leadership of the Office of Personnel Management, is one step closer to completing the confirmation process.

The Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee voted May 15 to pass Cabaniss favorably from committee consideration to the Senate floor. The nomination passed by voice vote, though five members of the committee requested that they be recorded as “no” votes.

Cabaniss’s nomination was passed out of the committee in a meeting full of unanimous en bloc votes on a total of seven nominations, 17 pieces of legislation and five postal naming bills.

Though Cabaniss promised the committee just a week prior that she would maintain open communication with members of Congress, should she be confirmed, she has also faced criticism for her previous management of the Federal Labor Relations Authority.

The Trump administration has also made clear to Congress that it intends to dismantle OPM as an independent agency anyway, placing much of that agency’s current operations under the General Services Administration.
