Open season — the time set aside annually for federal employees to change their benefits — ends on Monday, Dec. 12, but there's still plenty of time for feds to update their elections.

For those who want to make sure they fully research all their options, Long Term Care Partners has created a Virtual Benefits Fair, an online portal where feds can find information on all the benefits packages, from dental to vision to general health care.

The Virtual Fair has been available throughout open season, with a few live days when feds could speak directly with the vendors. That time has passed, but there's still a wealth of information available for last-minute benefits shoppers, including a recording of the webcast with federal benefits expert Tammy Flanagan.

LTCP representatives said latecomers won’t be able to engage in live chats with vendors, and any materials sent through the mail won’t arrive until after open season closes. However, the virtual booths have downloadable information available and contact information for most carriers, should you want to reach out directly.

Fair reps noted the centralization of all this information is great for procrastinators, who would otherwise have to find and search through each vendor’s website one at a time.

So far, the fair has had more than 11,000 registrants and some 8,000 attendees, a more than 100 percent increase over the inaugural Virtual Benefits Fair last year.
