The Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency audited its membership and on Oct. 20 recognized the IG community’s accomplishments at its 19th annual awards ceremony.

Held at the Ronald Reagan Building Amphitheater, the ceremony — which included a keynote address from Tom Coburn, former U.S. senator for Oklahoma — presented seven CIGIE Special Category Awards and nearly 80 Awards for Excellence to individuals and teams from among the organization’s 73 member agencies.

The ceremony highlighted achievements in combating fraud, waste and abuse in government programs and operations. Michael E. Horowitz, CIGIE chair, and Allison Lerner, CIGIE vice chair, presented the peer panel-selected citations.
